The subject is from the movie The Chronicles of Riddick. I thought it was a creative way of saying what i really want to talk about which is "You get out what you put in."

This linkshell allows members to be in other linkshells at the same time... as long as you follow the rules we have in the other shells too. I'm not an idiot... really... so it's more of a dont ask dont tell thing. kind of.

There are reasons we arent too leech friendly... some involve taking time and exploring the paths less traveled, for me it's more... i dont want people to see people rocking our pearl and think of them as people with gimpy skills. If you are somewhere and cant hit a mob if your life depended on it, then what are you doing there. This game has to do a lot with reputation... your actions give you a reputation, and if you are a known gimp... the chances of you being invited to do something you want... is slim.

That is another topic all together than what i wanted to say.

We're pretty friendly in this linkshell. We have individual goals, and we like to help others with their goals. If you have been in other linkshells before, or are in one now... you sometimes notice that there are people (with multiple linkshells) who will only put on a pearl of a specific linkshell long enough to shout and see if anyone can help them with something they want (this normally will involve an empyrean weapon), and if no one is available... they will remove the pearl, and put on a different pearl... rinse and repeat.

You keep what you kill. You wear your reputation. This and other Linkshells imitate life... you get out of it what you put into it.

There are members of this linkshell who have helped me do so many things, that if they ask me for a hand with something... i will jump at the chance to help them because i feel like i owe them. Do i owe them anything? Not really... but i WANT to help them.

If you are new to the game, and need stuff... we get that... and that is okay. We can help. Depending on timing... we will help. (you would be amazed at how many sentences start with "Arc... are you busy?")
If we cant get to you right away, i know i personally try to remember, and check in to see if anyone has helped someone with a specific something they have mentioned at another time.

I will share a story and finish this note, rather than saying the same things over and over...

I started the game in January 2011. I died a LOT. Especially in the dunes. (remember dunes parties guys?)

I was dead, i wasnt apart of this LS (i was still on the titan server), no friends (few as i had) were on... and people i didnt know... passed by and would raise me.

That was one of the things that made me want to play WHM. I wanted to be able to see random people who were dead without reraise... and raise them and return the favor of the many times people raised me. And i got stronger. And i have been that person who raised strangers.

If you arent strong... work to get strong, so you can help others.

Pay it forward. We have a lot of great people in this shell, who do that every day. We'd like you to be one of them.

Welcome to the Sentinels.

While I don't THINK this is directed at me...I am guilty of the whole shell jumping situation.

My problem is that I have a lot of friends that I knew before TS back in the days of yore. They are close to me, yet they also do things professionally. So I like to be able to be a part of those endgame events that are hard to do proficiently with a (please don't take this personally) more novice oriented linkshell.

Now, before I get pimp-slapped by Arch... I don't mean to say that the people in TS are not capable, but TS lacks the organization that YHALLOTHAR has. HOWEVER, that in itself is pretty much what makes TS a good place to be for the casual player. It's those gut grinding schedules that you push yourself to attend that makes endgame a chore, and honestly I hope TS NEVER has that kind of feel to it. The comfort and calm atmosphere is what makes us shine, and is why we have as many members as we do.

With that said...I've been neglecting you guys. I know I have. I admit it. I don't know if anyone in here has talked about my massive absence in the last several months, but I wouldn't blame you if you had. I like to hop on the other shell to do stuff like Provenance Watcher or Legion, things that aren't really accessible with TS. But the sad truth is...99% of the time while I'm doing the tougher endgame events, I'm thinking about switching over to this shell so I can relax and help out.

I miss leading events and the like...I just started to get discouraged by the lack of attendance to things that were happening. I let that get the best of me, and now I'm in a pretty big slump that I don't know how to get out of. I'll throw on my TS sack in the evening, say a hello and get no response. It seems dead, even though there are 2-3 pages of peeps on sometimes. Then I swap back over to the other shell...same thing. I feel like I'm missing something here.

Anyway, that's something that has been eating at me for a while. Hopefully this new expansion will bring the euphoria that I desire back, and I hope that it will reinvigorate everyone else as well. I hope to see everyone more!

D,

Actually its been on my heart for a while now, and it wasnt directed at you. We've actually been having an influx of new members. I wanted to point out that multiple shells are okay... but i think some of the bread and butter of this is things i have learned while doing pick up groups in Voidwatch.

If someone is in voidwatch (not led by us)... and people notice they have a habit of bailing on people or disconnecting at a certain time every run they are on... i have heard other people mention that these people have been blacklisted. I have sat through some PAINFUL voidwatch groups, and stayed because i didnt want to be blacklisted.

On the topic of voidwatch... our TS run voidwatch events (run masterfully by Libbien) have been swelling with record attendance (on average about 14-15 people IN TS join, and we have to recruit only a few people) (infact our 3 newest members joined during that last voidwatch run)

We're also looking to start up some salvage, as i am interested in that and mentioned it to others and a lot of others are too.

So we maybe do things a little slower.. a little more relaxed... but we're starting to get the people power, and some of our lower leveled members are catching up and also will want to get in on content. And the expansion around the corner.

As for you personally... just so you are aware... the times you have been on recently you have joined us in helping other people with empy farming. People (including me) notice this. I hate this phrase as it comes from corporate America... but when you have had our pearl on, you have been more of a "team player" and i think people are noticing.

You have a family... which means your life and schedule are interesting. I get that... as should and do the rest of us. You can play when you can play... this is only a game, and real life comes first. I think everyone should understand that.

That being said... you've helped me quite a bit, and i honestly like you. And i have no problem helping you with stuff. With me it's all about when you catch me, because i try to balance personal goals with LS member help requests... and their are often times when i literally have a queue of people to assist.

But no... it's not directed at you... it's really directed at all of us.

1) We should keep our skills not gimped.
2) Other linkshells are Okay.
3) we dont do the point system on who gets what empy, we're chill.
4) Here's how to get stuff you want done more effectively... in formula form...
/l Hey guys! I want "X" is anyone else interested in "X", or setting up a time for "X" to be done?

/l Hey guys! I want "x" drop... X drop comes from X mob... x mob also drops y, z, a, b, c... does anyone need those, or want to try to spam X mob for multiple X drops?

Prime example of the last one... last night i was asked if i wanted to take part in the "I want Twilight Mail Shinryu beating club" with Eram, Kramos,, and Kurwataru. I said well... Kramos is a shmexy bitch, so as long as we cast deodorize on Eram... sure... cause i have cruor to burn for brews, and i need mail and scythe.

So we spammed some Shinryu... we won a few... we lost a few... first run Eram brewed... and scythe dropped... free lot... score Archeim.

Few runs later i think Kurwa got Blue proc, and i popped a brew... and I got my Twilight Mail.

Kurwa had to go eventually, so me, Eram, and Kramos continued on.

We were tired, but on our last run, i got blue, and i brewed again...

Another twilight mail.

Because i brewed i set the drop rule. Which was... you guys could either lot, or work it out between yourselves. Because i am not suicidal enough to give it to one of them and not the other.

Long story short... Kramos has a shiny new set of armor, and Eram is a living saint.

But before i go too off topic.

We love to have you when you are with us. Even though you kinda dress like a whore.

When you get a chance tell me what you are looking to do, be it empywise, or other stuffs.... and at least you and i (and i will attempt to muster a group of bored people) will have at it.

And Dinah... i love you for this paragraph i quote and close with below.

"HOWEVER, that in itself is pretty much what makes TS a good place to be for the casual player. I consider myself one the new guys on the block as I've only been in the linkshell for a month or two.

I know this is a bit off topic, but since my wife and myself have joined, we have generally found most people in the shell quite helpful. Some people have even gone out of their way to help us out on occasion, especially with our recent venture for the AF set.

Most players would probably tell us that AF is outdated sets of gear and you might as well level up and get the newer sets that came with Abysea. TS has welcomed us nublets with open arms and helped us acquire outdated gear as well as complete lower level missions / quests.

We hope to someday return the favor and help everyone else out as well.

That's just my experience so far within the linkshell as a newbie.

Our shell isn't an elite one that's for sure. We don't hold people to s standard of relic/empy gear or u don't participate and in my eyes that's awesome. I don't want people to get the idea that we don't do endgame events because we aren't holding people to that standard. To me at least, you don't need to have elite gear to be able to handle the harder events. I may not have "elite" gear but I certainly have an elite arrogance that I can take on anything until I prove MYSELF that I can't. Id love to see a NNI or legion event setup within the ls, and perhaps after we take the ls through all VW clears, maybe I'll be that person to set it up. Or perhaps someone with experience in those events could spark some interest •looks at dinah• >.> lol. I just know that what makes our ls special is that it gives people the opportunity to enjoy newer content that they may not have gotten otherwise because outside people want you to have a certain gear set that just isn't easily attained by the casual player.

Well that's a good relief. Thanks for the reassurance. It sounds like the bond is closer than ever. Shall we try to take on Provenance Watcher naked? I think we should.

I always have this sinking guilt that I don't do enough with the shell anymore. It used to be my entire ambition. I SHOULD log on tonight, if not only to check my marbles. So hope to see some peeps online tonight.

On a side note...can someone enlighten me to the specifics of what happened when someone made an alternate shell? I don't know when or how the schism was caused, or who exactly we lost. There are a lot of faces that I haven't seen lately and I was just curious. I may try to step back up in TS in a big way and lead some events again.

Wait, wait... wait.

Hold on.

Your massive absence? I am legitimately surprised that my login credentials even still work from uhh... whenever it was that I was on last.

I came here on a whim the day before I go back to classes from Spring break, missing you guys and wishing the circumstances in my life would permit me to feed my crack obsession with this game again. Then, I read this. I sincerely hope that I'm taken at face value when I say, with all due humility, that this thread is probably the best thing that I've read all year.

This is exactly the message and philosophy the group was founded on, it's what I've always tried to live by, and it's really inspiring to see that you guys are keeping the message alive.

I'll just... quietly duck back into the eternal darkness of the void, now.

Sieg,

Thank you. It was really on my heart to write it. In reality... this shell to me isnt about "no reeching", it's about the people we attract, and even more so the people who stay. I've met so many wonderful people in this linkshell (past and present) and these are people i've spent over 2 years of my life with, some of which know more about me then some of my closest friends do. Kinda funny.

A bunch of us took some breaks and what not, and Cent's schedule and life has been somewhat on the crazy side... so i know i can speak for myself on this one... and most likely a few other officers here... that we were just trying to hold everything and everyone together.

That's because we have something special here. We're a linkshell of loveable assholes. This game wouldnt be half as fun to me without the rest of you. Sometimes i feel like our LS are the last people alive in a zombie (or walker) apocalypse. Or maybe... maybe we're the people i'd like to spend my time and hole up with in a zombie apocalypse.

That being said... you are far from forgotten... and we look forward to your return.

(and about 9 days till the expansion is turned on.)
